coastal flooding warning in effect This warning is in effect for parts of the coast due to the following hazard(s): Moderate storm surge. Very large waves. Higher than normal water levels. Locations: northeastern and eastern Newfoundland, especially along northeast-facing shorelines. Maximum wave heights: 6 to 8 metres, breaking upon approach to shore. Time span: Sunday morning until Monday morning. Most significant near high tides. First high tide: 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Sunday. Second high tide: 10:00 P.M. Sunday to 12:00 A.M. Monday. Remarks: Large waves and pounding surf will produce higher than normal water levels along coastal areas from Ferryland to White Bay, especially near high tides on Sunday. These large waves can cause coastal erosion in vulnerable areas, as well as damage to infrastructure along the shoreline, especially at locations that have been prone to impacts during similar events in the past. ### Flooding is possible along the coastline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas. These warnings are issued when water levels pose a flooding threat to coastal areas. Stay away from affected coastlines.

wind warning in effect Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Maximum gusts: north to northeasterly 90 to 100 km/h, except 110 to 120 along parts of the coast. Locations: southern, eastern, and northeastern Newfoundland. Time span: overnight Saturday through Sunday. Remarks: After the winds subside over the Avalon Peninsula on Sunday there is a chance that southern parts of the Avalon Peninsula could see southwesterly winds strengthen with gusts to 100 km/h again Sunday night. This will be dependent on the eventual track of the storm. ### Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. special weather statement in effect Significant snowfall, rainfall, and strong winds are expected. Locations: most of Newfoundland to the west of the Avalon Peninsula. Time span: early Sunday morning until Monday morning. Remarks: Snow is expected to begin over eastern Newfoundland early Sunday morning and spread northwestward across the island through the day. Snowfall and rainfall amounts will vary considerably depending on elevation and proximity to the coast. There have been coastal flooding, wind, rainfall, and winter storm warnings issued for many areas of Newfoundland. However, due to the continued uncertainty with respect to the storm track, there exists the potential for additional warnings to be required.
