coastal flooding warning in effect This warning is in effect for parts of the coast due to the following hazard(s): Moderate storm surge. Very large waves. Higher than normal water levels. Locations: northern Newfoundland, especially along east-facing shorelines. Maximum wave heights: 6 to 8 metres, breaking upon approach to shore. Time span: Sunday night until Monday morning. Most significant near high tide. High tide: 10:00 P.M. Sunday to 12:00 A.M. Monday. Remarks: Large waves and pounding surf will produce higher than normal water levels along coastal areas along the east facing shoreline of the Great Northern Peninsula, especially near high tide on Sunday night. These large waves can cause coastal erosion in vulnerable areas, as well as damage to infrastructure along the shoreline, especially at locations that have been prone to impacts during similar events in the past. ### Flooding is possible along the coastline. The combination of surge and waves may cause impacts well inland. These warnings are issued when water levels pose a flooding threat to coastal areas. Stay away from affected coastlines.
