rainfall warning in effect Heavy rain on tap. What: Up to 40 millimetres of rain is expected. When: From this evening until overnight Wednesday night. Where: From the Ottawa Valley toward the Laurentians and Lanaudière areas. Additional information: An intense low pressure system will bring rain to Southern Quebec. As the ground is frozen and has a reduced ability to absorb moisture, significant amounts of water could accumulate on roads and other areas. A significant rise in the flow and level of some rivers is also possible. Following the rain, a drop in temperatures is expected overnight Wednesday night that could lead to a flash freeze of ponded water. Roads may become slippery, causing poor travel conditions and transportation delays on Thursday morning. In addition, the drop in temperatures will be accompanied by flurries which, in addition to reducing visibilities, may leave a few centimetres of snow locally. Consider changing any non-essential travel plans for this period. ### Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #QCStorm.

rainfall warning in effect Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Hazards: 30 to 40 millimetres of rain. Timing: Beginning this evening until Wednesday evening. Discussion: Rain, at times heavy, will start this evening. Rain may taper off on Wednesday morning, but it is expected to reintensify again on Wednesday afternoon. Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 mm are possible by Wednesday evening before rain changes to snow as temperatures drop below the freezing mark. Given the frozen ground, significant amounts of water due to snowmelt and rain could accumulate on roads and low-lying areas. Roads and sidewalks might become slippery with the temperatures dropping significantly overnight on Wednesday, and travel may be impacted. There is still some uncertainty in regards to which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts. ### Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
