At night from 11.01. to 12.01.2025 heavy snowfall is expected in the most part of Latvia, locally a blizzard will occur as well, therefore 12.01 in time period from 00:00 till 3:00 the snow depth in many places will have increased by 5-9 cm, but in Vidzeme by 10-15 cm. All traffic participants are asked to be careful - parts of road will be slippery and covered with snow, and visibility during the snowfall and blizzard will decrease significantly! BE AWARE of heavy snowfall! Snowfall can hinder the movement of vehicles on the roads, as well as pedestrian movement. Visibility will be reduced during snowfall and blizzard conditions. Snowfall and wet snow deposits in certain areas can cause tree branches to break and damage power lines. Outdoor activities may be affected in certain areas. Be careful when walking, riding a bike or car.

Precipitation is expected in Kurzeme in the coming days, in some places heavy rains. The runoff in the rivers of the western part will increase, and floodplains and low-lying areas will be flooded widely again. BE AWARE of the potentially flood-prone areas! Caution should be exercised when moving in flood-prone areas. On the coastline of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga, strong winds together with high waves can cause a significant rise in the water level.
