Coastal Flood Statement issued November 14 at 3:05PM HST until November 18 at 8:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND UNTIL 6 AM HST SATURDAY... ...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT HST TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... .Strong winds will maintain large east wind waves, keeping surf heights above advisory levels along exposed east facing shores into the weekend. Peak monthly tides will lead to minor coastal flooding in the typical low-lying vulnerable areas in the early mornings. * WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet. For the Coastal Flood Statement, isolated minor coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, east facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and the Big island. For the Coastal Flood Statement, portions of Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu and the Big Island. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 AM HST Sunday. For the Coastal Flood Statement, from midnight HST tonight through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation. Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Avoid driving through flooded roadways. If you are forced to drive through salt water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with fresh water. Move electronics, vehicles or other valuables to higher ground. Monitor vessels to ensure mooring lines don't get too tight and watch out for overwash around boat ramps. Secure canoes or other watercraft stowed on beaches. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don't go out.
