Beach Hazards Statement issued December 1 at 11:23AM PST until December 1 at 1:00PM PST by NWS Medford OR * WHAT...A high risk of sneaker waves is expected. * WHERE...All beaches and shorelines of Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties. * WHEN...Until 1 PM PST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death. Waves may also lift driftwood logs, trapping anyone caught underneath. * View the hazard area in detail at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=mfr Avoid climbing on rocks and jetties. Stay away from the ocean and remain out of the water to avoid hazardous conditions.
