DAMAGING SOUTH TO SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h are expected to continue along the north coast, with peak gusts of around 90 km/h expected in these coastal parts as well as along the Border Ranges. VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible along Byron Bay and Coffs coasts, between Point Danger and Smoky Cape for the rest of today. These conditions are forecast to ease tomorrow morning. A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current for Byron and Coffs Coasts for today and tomorrow. Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas. Locations which may be affected include Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Ballina, Yamba, Woolgoolga and Sawtell. Tweed Offshore buoy observed a significant wave height of 5.39m at 2:00pm Saturday.
