arctic outflow warning in effect Very strong outflow winds and severely cold wind chill values are expected or occurring. When: Today until Tuesday, possibly continuing into Wednesday. Where: BC's North and Central coasts, including inland regions. Additional information: An arctic airmass combined with very strong outflow winds will give low wind chill values near minus 20 to 25 from today to Tuesday, and possibly also on Wednesday. Temperatures will be the coldest in the overnight and early morning hours, but the strong, gusty winds will maintain the low windchills throughout the daytimes as well. Winds will be very strong through the mainland inlets, where northeasterly winds may gust up to 90 to 110 km/h beginning tonight. ### Frostbite and hypothermia can occur within minutes if adequate precautions are not taken when outdoors. Any skin exposure is likely to result in frostbite. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #BCStorm. Minimize exposed skin with hats, scarves and mittens or gloves. Anyone who is not dressed warmly is at risk of frostbite and hypothermia in cold weather. Ensure that shelter is provided for pets and outdoor animals. Store or anchor objects so they are not tossed by the wind causing injury or damage.
