blizzard warning in effect Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring. Locations: southeastern Labrador. Total snowfall: 20 to 40 cm. Locally higher amounts possible. Maximum wind gusts (Saturday night): north to northeasterly 80 to 100 km/h. Maximum wind gusts (Sunday morning): north to northwesterly 80 to 100 km/h, except up to 130 in the Black Tickle area. Similar storms in the past have caused: - delays and cancellations of ferry services - closures of roads and highways - scattered utility outages Remarks: Snow will begin along the strait on Saturday morning and will spread northward through the day. The worst conditions are expected Saturday night into Sunday morning. Conditions are expected to improve on Sunday morning from Norman Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair, but poor conditions are likely to persist into Sunday afternoon from Cartwright to Lodge Bay. ### Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
