snow squall watch in effect Snow squalls are expected over some areas. Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due heavy snow combined with blowing snow. Locations: Channel-Port aux Basques to Gros Morne, and Deer Lake - Humber Valley. Total snowfall: 2 to 5 cm except locally 10 to 20 cm in snow squalls. Maximum wind gusts: westerly 50 to 70 km/h (strongest near Channel-Port aux Basques). Time span: until Sunday morning. Remarks: Snow squalls are expected to become more widespread this evening as a strong westerly flow of cold air continues. The squalls will begin to ease as winds subside overnight into Sunday. ### Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
