winter storm warning in effect Heavy snowfall with blowing snow is expected. Locations: the Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas, and Clarenville and vicinity. Time span: Sunday evening until midday Monday. Expected snowfall: 10 to 20 cm. Maximum wind gusts: northerly 80 km/h, except up to 100 km/h over exposed areas of the Bonavista Peninsula (strongest Monday morning). Similar storms in the past have caused: - school closures and cancellations of scheduled activities - disruptions to public services - disruptions and delays to road, air, and maritime transportation. Remarks: Snow will combine with strong winds giving poor visibility in blowing snow. The worst conditions are expected late overnight Sunday and early Monday morning when snowfall rates of 1 to 3 cm per hour can be expected. Conditions will gradually improve during the day on Monday. ### Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
