Freezing rain is possible during the transition, making some roads icy and slippery. Later on, a major weather system will develop along the American East Coast and will track up through Quebec overnight Wednesday night, bringing significant rainfall amounts and temperatures well above the freezing mark. Water is likely to accumulate on roads and in low-lying areas. A significant rise in the flow and water level of some rivers and streams is expected. In addition, winds associated with this system will be strong to high locally, especially along the coast. Loose objects could be tossed or blown away. The combination of high tides and strong southeasterly winds could produce breaking sea conditions over the eastern Gaspé Peninsula, Anticosti and the North Shore between Port-Cartier and Natashquan. Finally, a rapid drop in temperatures on Thursday could lead to a flash freeze on various surfaces.
