Veld Fire Conditions Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions fires may develop and spread rapidly resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life. All personnel and equipment should be removed from the field. Fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on full stand-by. At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.

Damaging Winds Difficulty in navigation at sea and small vessels at risk of taking in water and capsizing in locality. Localised disruption of small harbours and ports. While driving, reduce your speed and keep plenty of room between your car and others. It’s especially important to drive with caution in strong winds if you’re driving a high-sided vehicle or if you’re towing a trailer. If the wind makes driving difficult, consider pulling onto the shoulder or into a parking lot and remaining in your vehicle while you wait for the wind to moderate.
