Cold Weather Advisory issued January 20 at 1:50PM MST until January 21 at 9:00AM MST by NWS Grand Junction CO * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 25 to 30 below expected. * WHERE...Lower Yampa River Basin and Central Colorado River Basin. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 9 AM MST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
