Cold Weather Advisory issued January 20 at 7:38AM MST until January 21 at 9:00AM MST by NWS Grand Junction CO * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below expected. * WHERE...Animas River Basin, Four Corners/Upper Dolores River, San Juan River Basin, Central Gunnison and Uncompahgre River Basin, and Debeque to Silt Corridor. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 9 AM MST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
