Fire Weather Watch issued October 1 at 3:56AM MDT until October 2 at 7:00PM MDT by NWS Denver CO ...WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL BRING INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY AND WEDNESDAY... .Very dry air will spread over Colorado the next few days, and breezy conditions in some areas will elevate the fire danger. The most significant fire weather will be near the northern Colorado border where winds will be a bit stronger. Critical fire weather conditions are expected in the northernmost mountains around Walden and Rabbit Ears Pass today, and they will likely be a bit more widespread over the northern mountains and foothills on Wednesday with warmer temperatures and a bit more wind. Over the plains east of the I-25 corridor it will also be breezy this afternoon, which will raise the fire danger. The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 215 and 218. This includes the higher mountains from Rocky Mountain National Park north to the Wyoming border and the foothills of Boulder and Larimer counties. Conditions will be worst near the Wyoming border. * TIMING...From 11 AM Wednesday morning through 7 PM Wednesday evening. * WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 11 percent. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
