Chipola River near Altha (CR 274) affecting Calhoun County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Chipola River near Altha (CR 274). * WHEN...Until early Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Water will start to affect houses and mobile homes in the flood plain downstream from the gage. A few fish camps downstream of highway 20 will be affected by flood water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CDT Friday the stage was 18.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 24.0 feet Sunday evening. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 22.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 23.9 feet on 05/22/1946. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
