For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Walton and Bay County Beaches. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 PM CST Monday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through late Monday night. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Cold Weather Advisory issued January 6 at 3:05PM EST until January 7 at 9:00AM EST by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 21 expected. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected. * WHERE...Coastal Bay, Coastal Franklin, Coastal Gulf, and South Walton Counties. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 9 PM EST /8 PM CST/ this evening to 9 AM EST /8 AM CST/ Tuesday. For the Freeze Warning, from 1 AM EST /midnight CST/ to 9 AM EST /8 AM CST/ Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
