Flood Watch issued February 15 at 2:45AM CST until February 16 at 6:00AM CST by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of East Arkansas, including the following areas, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Greene, Lee AR, Mississippi, Phillips, Poinsett and St. Francis, North Mississippi, including the following areas, Alcorn, Benton MS, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee MS, Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union and Yalobusha, Southeast Missouri, including the following areas, Dunklin and Pemiscot, and West Tennessee, including the following areas, Benton TN, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton and Weakley. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected across much of the Mid-South. Buttahatchie River near Aberdeen For the Buttahatchie River...including Aberdeen...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Buttahatchie River near Aberdeen. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Water is flowing over Air Base Road on the west bank of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM CST Friday the stage was 18.1 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 PM CST Friday was 18.1 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise to 18.5 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage Monday afternoon to 12.8 feet early Tuesday afternoon. It will rise above flood stage Tuesday evening to 13.5 feet early Wednesday afternoon. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
