Likelihood of developing or ongoing moderate impacts from 1 to 3 inches of snow is 70 percent. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow, blowing and drifting snow expected. Likelihood of major impacts from snow is 80 percent. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches, except up to 10 inches at both Swan Lake and Nyack. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Polebridge, Bad Rock Canyon, Marias Pass, Highway 83 Bigfork to Swan Lake, and Essex. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 11 PM MST this evening. For the Winter Storm Warning, from 11 PM this evening to 8 AM MST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Localized Blizzard conditions with visibility reduced to one quarter mile at times is expected at Badrock Canyon, and between Essex and Marias Pass. Whiteout conditions will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Due to the dangerous or impossible traveling conditions, avoid travel along the US-2 corridor if possible tonight. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerously cold wind chills between 15 and 30 below zero. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
