Likelihood of developing or ongoing major impacts from snow is up to 80 percent. Additional snow accumulations include: 1 to 3 inches Butte to Deer Lodge, 3 to 6 inches Georgetown Lake and MacDonald Pass, and 4 to 8 inches Avon to Ovando. * WHERE...Butte, MacDonald Pass, Homestake Pass, Georgetown Lake, and Highway 12 Garrison to Elliston. * WHEN...Until 11 AM MST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Winter traveling conditions. For MAJOR impacts from snow, expect considerable disruptions to normal activities. Dangerous or impossible traveling conditions. Avoid travel in the impacted areas if possible. Widespread closures and disruptions to infrastructure may occur. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes, especially over higher passes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blowing and drifting snow, caused by easterly winds between 25 and 40 mph, will be expected from Elliston to Garrison Junction, and Avon to Helmville to Clearwater Junction. Gusty southwest winds between 15 and 35 mph will develop at Georgetown Lake overnight. A burst of heavy snow showers are expected Wednesday morning. Dangerously cold wind chills between 15 and 30 below zero are expected along and west of the Divide.
