Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches in the Flathead Valley, 5 to 10 inches Flathead Lake, Mission Valley, and 8 to 14 inches in Arlee. * WHERE...Flathead Valley, Mission Valley, Flathead Lake, and Polson. * WHEN...Until 9 AM MST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Winter traveling conditions. For MAJOR impacts from snow, expect considerable disruptions to normal activities. Dangerous or impossible traveling conditions. Avoid travel in the impacted areas if possible. Widespread closures and disruptions to infrastructure may occur. The hazardous conditions will impact the evening and morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow intensities will increase by Tuesday evening. The north to east winds will increase in strength late evening into the overnight. Steady winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph are expected in the vicinity of Flathead Lake and Highway 28 from Elmo to Hot Springs, and will produce periods of blowing and drifting snow. Badrock Canyon and Columbia Falls may experience the worst wind, with wind gusts approaching 45 mph at times, along with whiteout conditions.
