Red Flag Warning issued February 7 at 6:39AM MST until February 7 at 7:00PM MST by NWS Albuquerque NM ...RED FLAG WARNING FROM 9 AM TO 7 PM TODAY ALONG AND EAST OF THE NORTHEAST AND CENTRAL HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WIND AND VERY LOW HUMIDITY... ...RED FLAG WARNING FROM NOON UNTIL 7 PM TODAY FOR THE WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS DUE TO STRONG WIND AND VERY LOW HUMIDITY... .Strong west and southwest winds will develop today as humidities plummet into the single digits with another round of record and near record high temperatures. The strongest winds will be associated with a mountain wave along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, where wind gusts up to 70 mph are expected. Winds will take longer to strengthen in the Gallup area, where gusts should peak around 45 mph during mid afternoon. Winds will weaken with sunset, but breezy conditions will linger along the I-25 corridor into the evening as humidities climb above 15 percent. * AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Central Highlands (Zone 125) and the East Central Plains (Zone 126) from 9 AM TO 7 PM today. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, except 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph in the Northeast Highlands. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 6 and 11 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
