Special Weather Statement issued December 31 at 9:56PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC In the wake of a cold front, strong northwest winds will occur over the southern Appalachians into New Year's Day. Snow showers are expected to develop along and near the Tennessee border by early Wednesday morning, peaking in coverage during the early morning hours, and then tapering off late morning, perhaps lasting as late as noon north of the French Broad Valley. Accumulations will range from a dusting at lower elevations up to 1-3 inches above 5000 feet. Watch out for slippery spots on roads through Wednesday morning.
