Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of blowing dust can cause hazardous travel conditions. Red Flag Warning issued March 12 at 6:47PM MDT until March 13 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THURSDAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS BELOW SNOWPACK AND ALL OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FOR FRIDAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Winds will continue to decrease in speed through sunset this evening, and critical fire weather will temporarily end overnight. However, strong southwest winds will return on Thursday for much of New Mexico. Humidity values will fall to near 15 percent from the middle Rio Grande Valley eastward to the Texas border Thursday, resulting in more critical fire weather conditions. Winds will continue strengthen to near-historic levels going into Friday, with severe gusts and low relative humidities remaining in east central New Mexico. * AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Northeast Highlands and Plains (Zones 103 and 104), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124) below snowpack, and Central Highlands (Zone 125). * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 12 and 19 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
