Red Flag Warning issued March 17 at 3:11AM CDT until March 19 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Lubbock TX ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TUESDAY TO 1 AM CDT WEDNESDAY FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS, ROLLING PLAINS, AND THE FAR SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE... The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon to 10 PM CDT today. An additional Red Flag Warning has also been issued which is in effect from 10 AM Tuesday to 1 AM CDT Wednesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * Timing...From noon today to 10 PM CDT this evening, and again from 10 AM Tuesday morning to 1 AM CDT Wednesday. * Wind...For today, southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. On Tuesday, west at 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * Humidity...For today, from 5 to 9 percent. On Tuesday, from 7 to 10 percent. * Fuels...Critically to extremely dry. * Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly may become very difficult to control. Avoid all outdoor burning and take extreme care to avoid any activity that may cause a spark. Do not park or drive your vehicle over grassy areas or dry vegetation. Report fires to local authorities immediately. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
