The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon to 10 PM CDT Monday. A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for Tuesday from late morning through evening. * Timing...From Monday afternoon through Monday evening, and again from late Tuesday morning through late Tuesday evening. * Wind...On Monday, southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. On Tuesday, west at 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * Humidity...As low as 6 percent on both Monday and Tuesday. * Fuels...Critically to extremely dry. * Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly and may become very difficult to control. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical or extremely critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Widespread blowing dust is possible which may result in significant visibility reductions and poor air quality. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds. Travelers should be prepared to alter plans on Tuesday due to the potential for difficult travel conditions.
