For the High Wind Warning, southwest winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts around 75 mph expected. * WHERE...In New Mexico, East Slopes Sacramento Mountains Below 7500 Feet, Sacramento Mountains Above 7500 Feet, Southeast Tularosa Basin, and West Central Tularosa Basin/White Sands. In Texas, Eastern/Central El Paso County. * WHEN...For the Blowing Dust Advisory, until 9 PM MDT this evening. For the High Wind Warning, from 6 PM this evening to noon MDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Strong gusty winds could cause structural damage and will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'. Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.

Red Flag Warning issued March 13 at 5:37AM MDT until March 13 at 7:00PM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON THURSDAY... ..Strong southwest flow ahead of a large-scale upper wave approaching the Southern Rockies will increase winds Thursday afternoon in conjunction with dry conditions. Relative humidity in the lower teens will exist for several hours in south-central New Mexico and far west Texas. Winds will peak during the late- afternoon hours, with gusts up to 50 mph. ERC values are well above average for early March. Fire danger will be critical due to these weather conditions.. * TIMING...Thursday afternoon and evening. * WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9 percent. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...3 to 5 or Near Critical to Critical. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
