Flood Watch issued March 17 at 4:44AM EDT until March 17 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues. * WHERE...All of northern New York and northern and central Vermont. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff is resulting in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. River ice movement is likely, which may result in isolated ice jams and associated flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Runoff from snowmelt due to warm temperatures will combine with widespread rainfall to produce sharp rises on area rivers and streams. Flooding is possible, both of larger mainstem rivers and smaller, fast-responding mountain streams. Flood Warning issued March 17 at 3:55AM EDT until March 18 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT ...The National Weather Service in Burlington VT has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Vermont... Otter Creek At Center Rutland affecting Rutland County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Otter Creek at Center Rutland. * WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 7.0 feet, There will be field flooding along Otter Creek from Clarendon downstream to Pittsford. At 8.0 feet, Low lying portions of South Creek Road will flood in Clarendon between Walker Mountain Road and Wallingford. In Pittsford, Elm Street and Depot Road will be under water. Field flooding will occur along Dorr Drive in Rutland, along with lowland flooding upstream to Wallingford and downstream to Pittsford. At 9.0 feet, In Clarendon, low lying portions of South Creek Rd. will flood between Walker Mountain Rd. and Wallingford, and water will approach Alfrecha Rd. In Pittsford, Elm St. and Depot Hill Rd. will begin to flood. Field flooding will occur along Dorr Dr. in Rutland, along with lowland flooding upstream to Wallingford and downstream to Pittsford. At 10.0 feet, In Rutland, flooding will occur on low lying roads including Dorr Drive, Park Street and Clement Road. High water will also approach Meadow Street and the adjacent recreation fields will flood. Alfrecha Road in Clarendon will flood. Water will approach homes on West Proctor Road near Route 4 in Rutland. Downstream in Proctor and Pittsford, numerous roads will flood, along with Route 73 west of Brandon. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:45 AM EDT Monday the stage was 7.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early this morning to a crest of 10.1 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 9.7 feet on 12/26/2020. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
