Coastal Flood Statement issued September 27 at 5:15PM EDT until September 28 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA * WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Gloucester, Surry, James City, Isle of Wight, and York Counties...in addition to the Cities of Newport News and Hampton/Poquoson. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Shallow flooding is possible in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Do not drive through flooded roadways.

Flash Flood Warning issued September 27 at 4:56PM EDT until September 27 at 7:30PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA At 456 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Widespread flooding was reported across Southampton County. Between 2.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Franklin, Ahoskie, Murfreesboro, Courtland, Aulander, Boykins, Chowan University, Suffolk, Woodland, Winton, Lewiston Woodville, Cofield, Newsoms, Powellsville, Como, Roduco, Hunterdale, Sedley, Union and Severn.
