Cold Weather Advisory issued February 10 at 1:24PM PST until February 12 at 12:00PM PST by NWS Portland OR * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 5 to 10 below expected. * WHERE...South Washington Cascades and the Northern and Central Cascades of Oregon. * WHEN...From 7 PM Tuesday to noon PST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Those planning to venture outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly, making sure exposed skin is properly covered to prevent frostbite and/or hypothermia. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Avoid being outdoors in wet conditions which can increase the risk of the body cooling down and becoming hypothermic.
